Abby Ellin is an American author and journalist. The author of two books, including Duped: Double Lives, False Identities, and the Con Man I Almost Married, she writes regularly for The New York Times, and has contributed to Time, Newsweek, and The Daily Beast, among other publications.
Ellin grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts, and attended Brookline High School. She holds a BS in Communications from Ithaca College, an MFA in Creative Writing from Emerson College, and a Masters in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University.
Duped: Double Lives, False Identities, and the Con Man I Almost Married was published in January 2019. Based on her relationship with a man she identifies as The Commander, an ex–Navy Seal who falsely claimed to be the high-level CIA operative mastermind, the book "turns her heartache into a riveting memoir that's also an insightful investigation into the nature of emotional con artists." The book expanded on "The Drama of Deception," a cover story Ellin wrote for Psychology Today in 2015.

Shane Barker named a top marketing influencer by Salesforce and the Content Marketing Institute. Shane is recognized on the 2018 list of 100 Most Influential People in Influencer Marketing alongside Kim Kardashian, Gary Vaynerchuk, and legendary PR leaders like the CEO of Edelman.

Working with Shane, Zoe’s business ZBodyFitness went from $400,000 to $1.6 million in sales in less than a year through the exclusive use of influencer marketing tactics.
A bit more about Shane: He is the author of “How to Build a Successful Influencer Marketing Program,” and has published a valuable guide offering a step-by-step blueprint to help brands connect with the right influencers (could make for great conversation points in the podcast)! Also, he teaches the first-ever influencer marketing course for UCLA.
He’s spoken extensively about influencer marketing around the world. Recent speaking engagements include Influencer Marketing Days in New York City, the first-ever Influencer Summit in Mexico, and Influencer Marketing Hub’s Influencer Marketing Conference where he was one of 10 invited speakers. Brian Schulmeister - From the Music Industry to Grumpy Old Geeks
Thursday Nov 07, 2019
Thursday Nov 07, 2019
Brian Schulmeister is the co-host of Grumpy Old Geeks where they ponder "what went wrong on the Internet and who’s to blame" with previous guest Jason DeFillippo.
Brian lives in Venice, frequents Toronto and London and has spent a lot of the last 10 years happily living out of a suitcase – and a large backpack filled with laptops, cords, wires and various bits and bobs that bloop and bleep. He’s the co-founder of Slender Fungus, a design company working primarily within the music industry. He is also the co-writer with Rob Takac of the Goo Goo Dolls in Amungus, an electronica based music project that’s released an EP and played a few festivals. Brian started with technology at the dawn of time, even running his own BBS at the age of 13, and has stuck with it since then. Needless to say, he’s quite grumpy.

The Show Won't Go On with Jeff Abraham
Thursday Oct 31, 2019
Thursday Oct 31, 2019
This episode is a Halloween special. The interview has two parts. First we discuss the book and then we discuss what Jeff Abraham looks for as a publicist.
"The Show Won't Go On: The Most Shocking, Bizarre, and Historic Deaths of Performers Onstage" is the first comprehensive study of a bizarre phenomenon: performers who died while performing before an audience. From the comedy magician who dropped dead on live television to the amateur thespian who expired during a play called The Art of Murder, the book is a celebration of lives both famous and obscure, as well as a dramatic and accurate recounting of events leading to the moments they died "doing what they loved." The Show Won't Go On covers almost every genre of entertainment, and is full of unearthed anecdotes, exclusive interviews, colorful characters and ironic twists. With dozens of heart-stopping stories, it's the perfect book to dip into on any page.
Jeff Abraham is one of Hollywood's foremost comedy historians and the go-to pop culture expert for television producers, documentary directors and authors. As senior account executive at Jonas Public Relations, he's gained a reputation for representing some of the top names in comedy, including Andrew Dice Clay, Steve Harvey, George Lopez, Bill Maher and, for the last eleven years of his life, George Carlin. Not limiting his work to comedians, Jeff has a varied clientele that includes many actors, actresses and authors, for whom he's created countless successful book launch and promotion campaigns. The owner and curator of the largest comedy album archives in Hollywood, he's been called upon as research consultant to countless authors and numerous film documentaries and television specials including Make ‘Em Laugh for PBS; Comedy Central's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time; Let Me In, I Hear Laughter: A Salute To Friar’s Club on Cinemax; and the acclaimed Encore film, Method to the Madness of Jerry Lewis. Jeff has conducted interviews for The Archive of American Television, worked closely with The Paley Center for Media, and is on the board of The National Comedy Center. He's also author of the upcoming authorized biography of The Ritz Brothers.

From PayPal and Airbnb to ClickMinded SEO with Tommy Griffith
Sunday Oct 13, 2019
Sunday Oct 13, 2019
Tommy Griffith has been doing search engine optimization for more than 10 years. He previously managed SEO at PayPal and Airbnb, and now runs ClickMinded, a digital marketing training platform for marketers and entrepreneurs.
Tommy started ClickMinded as a side project while working full-time at Airbnb. He grew it until it started generating more revenue than his annual salary. Two years ago, he quit Airbnb to go full-time on it and ran into a number of problems in trying to grow the business from there.
In this episode we not only discuss the ins and outs of SEO in an organization but also what it took for him to burn all the boats and launch his own company. Note that it is not a kumbaya tale but rather a story of hard work.
